Sinloc and CibuSalus involved in the pre-feasibility project for the construction of an agri-food center in Mozambique. This is the first project funded by the Mattei Plan to strengthen ties and cooperation with the African continent

The agreement for the construction and equipping of the Manica Agrifood Centre (CAAM) was signed in Maputo, Mozambique. The initiative, worth EUR 38 million, is financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and is considered one of the strategic projects for the implementation of the Mattei Plan in Africa. The aim of the project is to create an agri-food centre in the province of Manica, Mozambique, which will act as a regional hub for the processing and distribution of agricultural products, improving the competitiveness of local fruit and vegetables, while strengthening the country’s food security and sustainable agriculture.

An all-Italian consortium, consisting of STI Corporate, Sinloc SpA and Cibusalus Srl, won the contract for the first phase of this ambitious project. This phase includes a pre-feasibility study that will assess key aspects for the creation and strategic positioning of the centre, including: an in-depth analysis of the selected value chains (fruit, vegetables and tubers) and their stakeholders; an economic and financial analysis; the development of at least three different business models; and some proposals for the technical dimensioning of the centre.

Sinloc and its affiliate CibuSalus are involved in the economic and financial analysis phase of the CAAM and the study of the selected value chains. Over a period of six months, the project will propose the best set-up to develop an agri-food centre suited to the local needs and context, and which can act as a driving force for the development of the Mozambican agricultural economy.
