Feasibility study for the design of the Museo Archeologico Diffuso del Varesotto

The municipality of Varese needed to develop a project for networking and enhancement of the archaeological heritage, defining a new cultural proposal and a development model, with the aim of applying for the funding of the Lombardy Region as part of the measures to support the Integrated Plans of Culture (PIC), established by Regional Law n. 25/2016.

Analysis of territorial heritage and positioning through the identification of strengths, weaknesses, risks and opportunities of the territory;
Analysis of tourism supply and demand and the regulatory and strategic framework
Analysis of case histories and definition of a strategy and operational steps to allow the use and promotion of the offer and an appropriate enhancement through integrated management;
Support stakeholders in concrete action on possible solutions.

The Civic Archaeological Museum of Villa Mirabello stands as the apex of a system that connects three other civic archaeological museums (Angera, Arsago Seprio and Sesto Calende), the archaeological site of Castelseprio, the Monastery of Cairate and the Museo Castiglioni, enhancing the rich system of local pedestrian cycle paths.

Sinloc, as advisor with qualified experience in the field, has supported the municipality in the development of the study of technical and economic feasibility for the creation of the "Museo Archeologico Diffuso del Varesotto"by networking the Civic Archaeological Museum of Villa Mirabello with other museums and archaeological sites of the province, the integration of the cultural offer with further and different elements of attractiveness of the territory and the enhancement of the rich system of local pedestrian cycle paths.

The intervention of Sinloc has allowed to enhance the archaeological heritage of Varese, defining a cultural proposal and a development model in line with the vision of the Lombardy Region and the basis of the ICPs, or a cultural experience, landscape, anthropological of the entire territory.

The project was based on five priority steps: the activation of collaboration networks between the owners of the heritage, the identification of specific targets and the development of targeted strategies, the creation and affirmation of a distinctive and recognizable identity, the systematization of useful information to visitors and their ease of access and finally the integration between the use of archaeological heritage and experience of the territory as a whole.
